Counseling

At Monterey County Rape Crisis Center, we offer short-term, trauma-focused individual therapy and support groups designed to help survivors of sexual violence — as well as their loved ones — begin their healing journey in a safe, supportive environment.

If you are interested in individual counseling, please contact our Salinas office at (831) 771-0411 or our Monterey office at (831) 373-3955 to schedule an intake appointment. Our offices are open Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. After your intake, you will be placed on our waitlist for therapy services. When your name reaches the top of the list, one of our therapists will contact you to discuss next steps and schedule your first session.

We also offer a support group that provides a space for connection, understanding, and healing among survivors. If you are interested in joining the group, please reach out directly to our Clinical Services Director Cindy Brodsky at cindy@mtryrapecrisis.org. More details about current and upcoming groups can be found in the Support Group section below.

Individual therapy is a one-on-one counseling process where a licensed mental health therapist works to explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a safe and confidential environment. At MCRCC, our therapy approach is trauma-focused and tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals who are coping with trauma-related symptoms and experiences.

If you’re interested in beginning individual therapy, please contact our main office at 831-771-0411 to schedule an intake appointment.

MCRCC offers a support group for adults who are survivors of sexual violence, as well as for significant others navigating similar experiences or challenges. These groups are led by trained professionals and are designed to provide a safe, confidential, and supportive space where participants can share openly, learn coping strategies, and connect with others who understand what they’re going through.

Support groups at MCRCC focus on mental health, healthy communication, and managing the ongoing effects of trauma. By fostering connection and reducing isolation, these groups offer a sense of community and promote healing through shared experience and collective strength.

Support groups meet in 13-week cycles and currently take place on Mondays.

If you’re interested in joining a support group or would like more information, contact Cindy Brodsky, MCRCC’s Clinical Director, by calling our main office at 831-771-0411 or emailing her at cindy@mtryrapecrisis.org.

MCRCC’s Child Abuse Treatment Program (CHAT) offers free counseling services for children and teens (ages 17 and under) who have experienced trauma. This includes sexual, physical, or emotional abuse, neglect, and exposure to domestic or community violence.
