Support

At MCRCC, survivors lead the way in deciding what advocacy and support feel right for them.

Our dedicated team of trained staff and volunteers offers survivor-centered advocacy every step of the way — from forensic medical exams and law enforcement interviews to court hearings and beyond. We also provide no-cost counseling services with licensed therapists and registered interns for survivors of sexual violence, human trafficking, and child abuse, as well as for their loved ones.

While we offer compassionate, survivor-focused advocacy, please note that our staff does not provide legal advice or representation.

You are not alone — reach out today. We’re here to help.

Services

We offer confidential services to support survivors of sexual violence. Sexual Assault Counselors are available 24/7 through our helpline at 831-424-HELP (4357) or 831-375-HELP (4357).

Accompaniment

The Monterey County Rape Crisis Center trains and certifies Sexual Assault Counselors to provide confidential support. Survivors choose the services that work best for them, including accompaniment to forensic exams, law enforcement interviews, and other settings.

Advocacy Services

MCRCC provides advocacy services to survivors of sexual assault during law enforcement and district attorney interviews and medical exams. We also connect survivors with other community resources for support.

Counseling

MCRCC offers individual therapy and support groups for sexual violence survivors and significant others. Call 831-771-0411 to schedule an intake appointment and join the waitlist. Contact the Clinical Services Director directly for support group information.

Incarcerated Survivors

The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), passed in 2003, aims to eliminate sexual abuse in detention facilities through national standards for prevention and response. MCRCC supports incarcerated survivors of sexual assault, offering confidential correspondence, crisis lines, accompaniment to forensic exams, and in-person support, all in compliance with PREA standards.

Human Trafficking

Human trafficking exists in Monterey County, and MCRCC is dedicated to supporting survivors through advocacy services, community education, and professional training to identify and respond to trafficking with trauma-informed care.

Helpline

Helplines are free, confidential, and available 24/7 in Spanish and English. Sexual Assault Counselors are ready to provide crisis intervention and referrals for survivors, their loved ones, and community members. With extensive training in sexual violence, our sexual assault counselors offer compassionate support, guidance, and assistance with any challenges or questions you may have.

Reporting Options

MCRCC provides various reporting options for sexual assault and child abuse, including direct law enforcement contact, forensic exams, and support through Sexual Assault Response Teams (SART) or Child Abuse Response Teams (CART). All services are confidential, free, and supportive.
