Child Abuse Prevention

The Child Abuse Prevention Program (CAPP) is grounded in the Maxine Waters Act of 1984, which mandates child abuse prevention education for be provided in school for students. For 40 years, MCRCC has provided presentations to students throughout the Monterey Peninsula. Since expanding in 2007, CAPP has facilited hundred of presentations in Salinas and South County schools. MCRCC also offers presentations for teachers and parents upon request.
CAPP presentations are a series of workshops delivered in both English and Spanish at public elementary schools. Using age-appropriate language, these sessions focus on:
- Personal Safety
- The 3 Safety Steps
- Stranger Awareness
- Safe vs. Unsafe Touch
- Identifying Trusted Adults
