MCRCC Calls for an Immediate Ceasefire
For over 50 years, the Monterey County Rape Crisis Center (MCRCC) has been supporting survivors of sexual trauma and working to prevent sexual violence in our community. We know trauma affects survivors’ immediate and long-term mental and physical health, relationships, educational opportunities, earning potential, and ability to live the lives of their choosing. Our work is to mitigate the impact of trauma and help create a thriving community free of violence. Therefore, we cannot be silent when we see trauma that can be prevented.
As we do our work to support survivors of sexual violence and child abuse here in Monterey County, our hearts are with Palestinians and Israelis who have been abducted, killed, and wounded; who have lost their children, mothers, fathers, siblings, grandparents, whole families, and homes; who are displaced, starving, gravely ill, and cold.
We beg our leaders to look beyond politics and negotiate an end to this violence, preserve life, and create lasting peace. MCRCC honors the lives and dignity of all people - of all religions and ethnicities. We call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire.
