Show up for survivors of abuse on #GivingTuesdayNow

#GivingTuesdayNow is global, and it’s on May 5, 2020. Add it to your calendar now!

We’re asking YOU to show up for survivors. On #GivingTuesdayNow, your acts of kindness count.

During these times, we are turning to you, our wonderful supporters, to keep us afloat.

We recently received news that one of our major annual fundraising events, Automobilia, has been canceled for 2020. It’s been our tradition for the past 17 years to run the admissions and silent auction at Automobilia during Car Week each summer. Each year we raise at least $10,000 from a combination of entrance fees, silent auction sales, and generous donations from the event. This is much-needed funding that we depend on.

Help us make up for that $10,000 on #GivingTuesdayNow!

Day and night, seven days a week, even during a pandemic, we continue to be here for survivors and our community. Through secure online platforms and our phone lines, we continue to provide crisis intervention, therapy, advocacy during forensic exams/interviews, prevention, and outreach.

Not only do our help line counselors provide support around sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking; we also coordinate resources for people that they wouldn’t otherwise have known about - like financial help, shelter, educational resources, and more.

Your donations will help to ensure our clients and community continue receiving this immediate and necessary support. Sheltering-in-place orders, social distancing, and the grief that comes along with this pandemic have the potential to disproportionately affect people who have already gone through trauma, like our clients. Think about it this way: people experiencing trauma from abuse were already grieving their freedoms, feeling isolated, trapped, anxious, depressed; experiencing loss of income. It's our job to provide them support, healing, and the tools necessary to cope in a healthy way.

So, what is #GivingTuesdayNow?

#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

Your donations can be made just like normal through our website.

Commit your acts of kindness now! Support survivors in honor of #GivingTuesdayNow.

Thank you for showing up for survivors. Your kindness means the world - and together, we will get through this.
