Individual therapy
Individual counseling is offered to survivors of rape, attempted rape, childhood sexual abuse, incest or any other type of sexual violence. Individual therapy is also available for friends and family of survivors. Individual therapy involves one-on-one counseling and is confidential within the limits of confidentiality.
Benefits of individual therapy include:
Stabilizing crisis and decreasing or relieving symptomatology
Improving coping and problem solving skills
Behavior modification and cognitive reconstructuring
Providing the space to process personal issues
The individual gets face-to-face help and directly confronts the issues most important to them
Group Therapy
Our groups offer a safe and confidential environment to rebuild self-esteem and regain a sense of control. Members support each other in learning to deal with day-to-day issues such as intimacy, building healthy relationships, setting limits with others and expressing anger safely. Group therapy generally includes six to eight survivors and one to two therapists.
Benefits of group therapy include:
Each participant is in an environment where others have similar feelings and experiences
Sexual assault survivors often feel they are alone, with no one who can relate to their situation. In a group environment, all participants get the opportunity to share their experiences and learn from one another
Learn effective coping skills and ways of problem solving
Group members provide a support system for each other
