"I was raped...but I am proud. I am proud of the person I am. I am proud that I survived such torment. I am proud that I did it without the mindless hate of the rapist. I am proud that out of the trauma I created a new beginning, a better Me. I am proud of me!"

Denim Day 2016

No Excuse to Rape

17 years ago the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction on the grounds that since the victim was wearing tight jeans when the attack occurred, she must have helped her perpetrator remove her pants, implying consensual sex. The following day, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans to work in solidarity with the survivor. Out of this Supreme Court case, the campaign Denim Day was born which protests internationally the misconceptions around sexual assault. This year Denim Day will be held on April 27th. Make sure to wear jeans on that day in support of survivors of sexual assault around the world.
